- Common Issue: Replaced when you hear a grinding noise or when pressing the electric start button just spins the motor without turning the engine.
Available Configurations
When purchasing this API racing or replacement component, it generally comes in two formats depending on your mechanical needs:
- Starter Clutch Outer Assy (Bearing Only): This is just the housing unit with the one-way sprag/needle bearing rollers. It is ideal if your starter wheel gear teeth are intact but the clutch is slipping.
- Starter Clutch Comp (Full Set with Gear): This is a complete assembly containing both the one-way clutch mechanism and the interlocking companion wheel gear. Choose this if you hear severe grinding or have worn gear teeth.
